The International Intervision Institute is an initiative that’s sprung from IFHP’s Multiple Intensive Land Use (MILU) working party. MILU developed into a network of experts dedicated to the generation, collection, exchange and transfer of knowledge on the subject of multifunctional intensive land use, as a means to realize more sustainable urban development in Europe. The members of MILUnet, the Interreg IIIc project that sprouted from the MILU working party, were European cities and leading European research institutions.
After termination of the Interreg IIIc project, the initiators of MILU decided to continue working with the theoretical framework and the format of the Implementation Lab (more on implementation labs) that proved to be most productive for finding solutions to local and regional development problems and for the implementation of strategies focused on multifunctionality, variety, differentiation and intensification.
The MILU legacy produced the question of continuity in the gathering and maintenance of the generated network, knowledge exchange and creative problem solution climate. As an answer to these questions, the International Intervision Institute was set up.
