Helsinki/Turku/Jyväskylä Summer School
Finland, 6-18 August 2007- Helsinki/Turku/Jyväskylä, 13th YTK / IFHP Summer School: “Local Identity and Globalisation”
How does increasing global competition affect cities and what is the role of medium size cities and city regions in this process?
When it comes to urban planning and architecture, does this development create worldwide uniformity or does it further emphasize qualities of cities?
How can cities emphasize their local urban identity through urban planning and design?
These three questions were the main focus of this summer school held in Helsinki, Turku and Jyväskylä by the Centre for Urban and Regional Studies (YTK) at the Helsinki University of technology (TKK). A book summarizing the event was published containing several articles, essays and the projects developed by the participants (Published by the YTK).Last Updated @ Thursday, 06 March 2008
