International Conference Mikulov, 24-27 May 2009

 

May 24-27 2009, the city of Mikulov (Czech Republic) will host the IFHP International Conference 'Tourism - Current and Future Challenges for Urban Development.'

 

Central theme 

Tourism has become one of the biggest and most rapidly expanding industries all over the world.
Tourism is not just a business - it also has a profound influence on the urban structure of cities, whilst the urban quality of cities is what attracts tourists.
The relationship between tourism and urban development has been studied by the IFHP Working Party, and the results of this study will be presented during the conference.

During the conference we will look further in the following key themes:

Mikulov

Mikulov is a town in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It is located directly on the border with Lower Austria.

Mikulov is one of the leading wine centres in Moravia. The surroundings of the town is full of vineyards, grapes and vine cellars.
The beautiful town offers a fine architectural heritage whit among others consists of a chateau complex, buildings of the former Jewish Quarter, the well-known Dietrichstejn Tomb and the historical square.
