2nd International Congress on Sustainability and Affordable Housing

From 28 to 31 May, the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul-PUCRS in Porto Alegre will host the 2nd International Congress on Sustainability and Affordable Housing – CHIS 2012. The CHIS is organized by the Affordable Housing and Sustainability Research Center of the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) and linked to its Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism (FAU). The Conference is an international scientific event that addresses issues related to public policies in the area of affordable housing and the driving principles of sustainability.

The deadline for the submission of a paper is April 15.

Registration will be open until May 21.

Student Competition

The projects presented at the International Student Competition should propose architectural, urban planning and landscaping interventions. Those should aim at the social inclusion of the local people and at the same time find a way to deal with the illegal and dangerous settlements in the currently occupied area of Ilha do Pavão, on the shore of Lake Guaíba, in the Jacuí River Delta, Porto Alegre.

Deadline for submission is April 30.
