BLOXHUB Mornings: Fablabs, Sharing & Local Production

Date(s):
Friday 28.10.2016
Location:
Fæstningens Materialgård, Frederikholms Kanal 30, Copenhagen.

October 28: BLOXHUB mornings is an inspiring series of morning events focusing on innovation and growth within the field of architecture, construction, urban development and design.
In recent decades we have seen massive outsourcing of production and manufacturing to countries like China and India. As a result many businesses in Denmark and elsewhere have shifted their focus towards only keeping development and innovation activities local. Today, however, we see an emerging shift. The wave of new technologies such as 3D printing and other digital manufacturing technologies, as well as undercurrents such as open source, sharing economy and co-creation, empowers innovators such as architects, designers and makers to manufacture locally through these new shared resources. Are these new currents just another buzz, or is it truly a manufacturing revolution as it is often labelled? And, what is the unique Danish take on it?

The speakers are going to address the wave of open source, sharing economy and co-creation, and the impact of new technologies such as 3D-printing and other manufacturing technologies. We will discuss whether these new currents are just another buzz, or whether they will lead to an immense manufacturing revolution.
