Essential ingredients for implementation of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and New Urban Agenda.
The godfather of public space & public life, Jan Gehl, Founder of Gehl Architects and Flemming Borreskov, President of the International Federation for Housing and Planning [IFHP] & Catalytic Society will offer a back-to-back presentation of their visions for “cities for people” and paradigm of human-scale, and “people for cities” and the importance of partnerships across sectors and disciplines. 
Anette Galskjøt IFHP CEO together with Regitze Marianne IFHP Special Advisor & DIS Faculty, will elaborate on how these are key ingredients to the implementation of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and New Urban Agenda, and the particular importance of addressing the social sustainability of cities and communities.
 
This DIS Seminar Night is organized in collaboration with International Federation for Housing and Planning, open to DIS students, and part of the curriculum for DIS urban studies.

  • Welcome by Regitze Marianne Hess, Associate Professor at DIS, Special Advisor with IFHP
  • Introduction into the UN2030 SGDs & Social Cities Agenda by Anette Galskjøt, IFHP CEO
  • ‘Duet’ Between Flemming Borreskov (IFHP President, representing ‘People for Cities’) and Jan Gehl (world famous founder of Gehl Architects, representing ‘Cities for People’)
  • Q&A, moderated by Regitze Hess

About DIS

The DIS Study Abroad in Scandinavia is a non-profit study abroad programme for undergraduate students from a vast array of distinguished North American colleges and universities. The teachings of Jan Gehl and the Gehl practice have been a distinct part of the DIS curriculum for both the Architecture and Urban Studies throughout the years. And issues of sustainability are core to various DIS programmes.
