The Summit gathers BBU Community & IFHP Community with members, potential members, contributors and partners.

We meet to share experience and learnings from local activities AND to join the urgent and relevant agenda of Housing Refugees. Together we aim to pursue the understanding and exploration on today's housing&habitat challenges and how we can Co-act for Habitat.

  • Site-visit (Nov. 13th 09-13): 
    The Berlin state-controlled housing companies are very busy at the moment. In the capital a lot of luxury apartment houses with freehold flats was erected. But what about housing for Berliners with normal income? The state-controlled housing companies have started building again after a period of consolidation. 
    On our tour in the east part of Berlin we are going to visit apartment buildings under construction. In this part of the capital there are still undeveloped areas and some parts are getting a face lift by modern housing.

Two days of exchanges 

The Summit runs over two days. You can participate in one or both days adapted to your calendar. Select and expect:
Day 1 A one day interactive conference bringing three topics under the umbrella: Co-act for Habitat :

  • Housing Refugees - A present and urgent topic in Berlin, and in Europe. Check up on the IFHP Housing Refugee Programme and download reports etc. 
  • The Appropriate role of technology in urban development
  • Affordable housing and public spaces - from local IFHP activities in 2015 to global  learnings pointing towards implementation

Day 2 takes us on a site-visit (from 9-12am) and brings us from conference room to the real world and the housing situation of Berlin.
