IFHP at Habitat Village

IFHP’s Pop-Up Talks on Placemaking are public dialogues by people for cities about cities for people being orchestrated by the International Federation for Housing and Planning [IFHP], involving a broad range of voices from the IFHP Community and beyond.

Pop-up talk 1: Place & Public Life
  • Place & Public Life: Pop-Up Talk on Placemaking
  • Date: 18th October 2016, from 9:30 – 10:30 am
  • Featuring the voices of Shin-pei Tsay Executive Director of Gehl Institute; Phil Williams President of Royal Town Planning Institute & Chief Urban Designer of Belfast; Norliza Hashim, Secretary General of EAROPH; together with the Danish Architecture Center and IFHP.

Pop-up talk 2: Place & Health

The interventions will highlight the role of the public realm and local placemaking as a key forum and key factor in securing cities for all and fostering housing for all. The talks will take key proponents, a.k.a. “people for cities”, out of the convention center and into the public realm of the Habitat Village, to dialogue on placemaking out on the public plazas, in the true context of the city.

The Pop-up Talks will address impacts, indicators and implementation of public space and placemaking strategies; placemaking and the study of public life; cross-cutting collaborations between public, private and civil sectors of societies; agile urban leadership and processes of participatory urban governance.

At the end of the day it all about the party and the place. Come Join the Conversation.
