Partnership between The Danish Town Planning Institute and IFHP

The Danish Town Planning Institute (DTPI) and IFHP signed a Memorandum of Understanding late November 2014. Next step is an up-coming meeting in December thereby taking the first steps to support each other to the benefit of members in both organizations.

CEO of DTPI Ellen Højgaard Jensen:

The Danish Town Planning Institute is a Danish organization updated on Danish planning. Our soft spot is however to have insight in the international scene. We look forward to touch the wider world together with IFHP, its unique knowledge and networks.”

DTPI is the forum for Danish urban planners to discuss how they work nationally and can translate international inspiration into their everyday tasks. DTPI was founded in 1921 and is a private, independent institution that aims to showcase urban and regional planning in Denmark.

The Institute puts considerable effort into both ensuring that current town planning issues and questions attract interest and promoting new knowledge and ideas within town planning.

DTPI and IFHP have discussed the best solution of how to connect closer, exploring the option of establishing a Danish national chapter for a while.

CEO of IFHP Ole Stilling:

To collaborate was however never in question as it is obvious for both organizations: IFHP’s members can benefit from connecting to Danish members regarding Danish know-how, but also to bring world-wide experience and knowledge to Danish cities and thereby inspire Danish development.“

On the agenda for the first meeting is to explore needs, identify activities and establish relations between IFHP’s youth network Urbego and the equivalent of DTPI.
