Federation for
Housing and

Who we are

The International Federation for Housing and Planning (IFHP) is a non-governmental network organisation that's broking knowledge in the field of Housing and Planning.

Our aim is to make better cities for people by implementing the New Urban Agenda along with our members and partners. We do this by connecting the right stakeholders, curating information for our community-of-experts and by organizing tailor-made events.

IFHP is a 104 year old global network of urban professionals. We originate from the Garden City Movement founded by Sir Ebenezer Howard in 1913 in London. Sir Ebenezer Howard wished to create better, greener and more inclusive cities, and this quest is still the foundation of the organisation today. We advocate housing for all and strive to balance social sustainability with economic and environmental sustainability in cities. We do this because we believe that a cities  cannot function and people not thrive without diversity at all levels.

Our community consists of both private, public and academic urban stakeholders.

We have been connected to UN-institutions since the early 1950s, and we work closely with the UN agenda on cities, especially Sustainable Development Goal 11 and the New Urban Agenda.  We act as a worldwide implementation agent of the New Urban Agenda by designing and facilitating urban labs and smaller conferences focusing on how to accommodate housing for all. On-stage we engage in global and local discussions together with partners, our community, national chapters and sister-organizations. We share knowledge to inspire and are constantly on the watch for new solutions and methods taken forward by our community.

Please join us to better accommodate the exploding need for 'Housing For All' and to effectively implement The New Urban Agenda.
