The 26th IFHP Urban Planning and Design Summer School in Finland, the longstanding and most time-honoured summer school in the field of urban planning, will this year be held 10 – 21 August 2020. The course is organized by Tampere University in collaboration with Aalto University and the International Federation of Housing and Planning. The overarching theme this year is Making, Shaping or Letting Be. We ask whether planning and design are always about making new spaces? How could planners shape ethical interventions in communities and public space? When should planners ‘let it be’ and rather assist local actors in the production of space, relying on self-organizing process?

We warmly welcome applications from students at all levels of studies, especially Masters and advanced BA / BSc, as well as young professionals and PhD students from all disciplines related to or interested in spatial planning. We look forward to receiving applications from urban planners, architects, sociologists, geographers and others dealing with the built environment!

The summer school entitles participants with 5 study credits (ECTS).

Participation fee for the summer school is 620 euros, IFHP members receive a discount (30 Euros discount per person, while institutional membership, i.e. cities, academic institutions and public housing associations - triggers 2 discounts of 30 Euros per person).
