IFHP positions itself as a transnational platform for emerging professionals and early-career researchers working at the intersection of housing and planning. Capacity building is not peripheral but strategic: it strengthens long-term network vitality and intellectual renewal.
Capacity Building and
Next Generation
Summer School
Building on the existing IFHP Urban Planning and Design Summer School in Finland, the programme will be further developed as a structured capacity-building track within IFHP’s core activities. Previous editions have explored themes such as Rethinking Urban Change (2022) and The City of Being(s) (2023), combining conceptual reflection with site-based learning and collaborative design work.
The Summer School therefore offers more than training; it functions as a pedagogical laboratory where housing and planning are examined through comparative case studies, interdisciplinary teamwork, and interaction between academics, practitioners, and students. The proposed module will explicitly connect these learning processes to IFHP’s strategic agenda, translating educational outcomes into network knowledge resources and future collaborations.
