We investigate how housing and planning policies are shaped and implemented at the local level, drawing lessons from international examples and experiences. Through local chapters we aim to uncover effective approaches and foster dialogue between practitioners and decision-makers.
Local and National Housing & Planning Agendas
Local chapters and international exchange
Translating international agendas into local, regional, and national planning systems
The local chapters of IFHP, developing in close collaboration with our Council Members, explore how local housing and planning systems function and respond to challenges. Local chapters are being explored through several formats:
Learning Labs: online sessions run through 2025, collecting diverse housing challenges, exchanging best practices, and focusing on community-led and collaborative approaches to affordable housing.
Site visits: to cities including London, Berlin, Rotterdam, and Brussels, where IFHP members and its network come together to discuss what can be learned from each city or region and applied elsewhere.
Convenings: Thematic sessions such as The Housing Dilemma, which explored the question of accelerating the production of affordable housing while safeguarding ecological and social resilience in the Dutch context.
