New housing and planning agendas are emerging at the international level, including the UN New Urban Agenda and the European Affordable Housing Plan (2025). With its international platform of members, partners and council, IFHP responds to these cross-border agendas and helps translate them into local action.

The European Housing and Planning Agenda

IFHP is taking the momentum of the European Affordable Housing Plan to re-enter the discussion of spatial planning and housing together. This regulatory approach and agenda-setting from the European Commission could help Member States move toward more affordable, inclusive, and sustainable living environments.

  • Our Plea: a collective response to the European housing agenda, co-developed by almost 100 experts across Europe, submitted to the European Commission.

  • Hope for Housing #1 and #2: two events that continued the dialogue and exchange around European Affordable Housing Plan between international housing and planning networks, academics and city planners.
