HOW TO BRING ABOUT AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND THE INCLUSIVE CITY?

Join us! - Pitch in!

This is a two-part day on Affordable Housing and the Inclusive City with insightful experts and with you, our members and audience, in exciting exchanges about housing and its transformative role in social and economic recovery, about the right to the city and creating the city we all need.

Part 1 at 11:00 - 13:30 CET is the IFHP Summit & Urban Thinkers Campus, this year combined online and live at Bloxhub, featuring Jan Gehl, Jens Kramer Mikkelsen, Kate Henderson, Claudio Acioly Jr., and Michael Green, moderated by Dr. Savvas Verdis from the London School of Economics Cities and IFHP's Regitze Hess.

Part 2 at 14:00 - 16:30 CET is the IFHP Master Class with deeper dives into the right to housing in urban and economic resilience, fully online with access to interactive pre-study platform and your official attendee certificate, featuring Bruce Katz, Dr. Mari Vaatovaara, Claudio Acioly Jr., Dr. Nicola Tollin, Michaela Kauer, and again insightfully moderated by Dr. Savvas Verids.

The online course and associated Master Class will look at the concepts of interpersonal and regional inequalities in advanced economies and what both cities and national governments can do to tackle entrenched inequalities through inclusive growth strategies. The online course will provide immersive content on policies that are both spatially targeted and connected. IFHP members will be surveyed on the online course and their answers used to structure the masterclass with experts.

How are cities to tackle the aggravating housing crisis and foster inclusive economic growth for their citizens to thrive? 2,5 billion more people  are expected to be living in cities by 2050. That equals a staggering 80 million per year that cities around the world must accommodate and offer liveable conditions for. Recent research reveals that only 13% of the world’s cities have affordable housing – a situation exacerbating during the covid-19 pandemic. Despite adequate housing being recognized as a human right, the housing crisis seems to only intensify.
